2009 Calendar...Whatever the Season, Belvidere's Events Invite You to Explore our Town.
Year round, there's lots to see and do in Belvidere. Whether you are a history buff, an antique shopper, an outdoors seeker, a patron of the theatre, a lover of gardens, or a student of the Victorian Era, it's here for you. Spring
- Trout Fishing Competition, April 11 Saturday, 8:30 AM to Noon. The Second Annual "Get Hooked on Belvidere" Trout Fishing Tournament is a Springtime highlight. Over seventy anglers trolled the banks of the Pequest and Delaware Rivers and enjoyed a local Spring time tradition. Cash prizes exceeding $700 were offered for the biggest catch. The haul was especially rich since New Jersey's fish hatchery is just up the road. Each registrant received a special event T-shirt. Mark your 2010 calendar for this April treat. - Spring Yard Sale - June 6-7. Do you enjoy hunting for treasures at Yard and Garage Sales? Well, you don't want to miss our townwide Yard Sale, held just twice a year (early in June and October). Tens and tens of residents delight shoppers and browsers with hundreds of items displayed on their lawns and porches. We invite you to explore one of a kind discoveries and haggle with friendly sellers. Jot the dates on your calendar...see you there!
Fall
- Once again our town comes together to present Belvidere's 22nd Annual Victorian Days Festival, September 12 and 13. Town citizens cast off their modern fashions and don period clothing reminiscent of the 1800s. Thousands gather in our tree lined Square for arts and crafts, music and entertainment, Victorian House Tours, old fashioned Teas on house porches and in their gardens, vintage car shows, street performers, tours of our public cemetery with live re-enactors, and delicious food of every variety. This is annually one of the State's largest celebrations of its kind. Mark your calendar for 2009's first weekend after Labor Day for our celebration.
- Belvidere's First Annual Fall Foliage 5K Run will be held on Saturday the 26th of September rain or shine. The race is presented by Belvidere Arts & Events, Inc. and sponsored by DSM Nutritional Products for the benifit of the Belvidere school District.
Spectators will be entertained on the town square by the Pequest River Boys Band from 9:00 am to 12 Noon. The race begins and ends at Garrett D. Wall Park in front of the County Court House. For a copy of the registration form which includes additional detials on the race click on the 5K Registration Icon below.
Registration/Check-In begins at 8:30 am. The race begins at 10 am sharp.
- Fall Yard Sale - October 3 & 4. Do you enjoy hunting for treasures at Yard and Garage Sales? - Belvidere's annual Halloween Parade occurs right before the eve of spirits. Ghouls and Goblins take over the main streets of town with a humorous and scary collection of characters. All in great fun. Visitors are invited to dress up and join the march. Free hot dogs and cider for all parade participants!
Winter - Christmas in Belvidere. Saturday, December 12. On the Friday evening before we'll light up our official town Christmas tree in the Square, listen to strolling carollers, and hopefully catch a glimpse of our official Town Crier announce the start of this magical season.
On Saturday enjoy the many events presented for your enjoyment. Homeowners will welcome you into their "Victorian Christmas Parlors" for an up close look at their seasonal decorations and trees, Victorian style of course. Luncheon, High Teas, and Dinner opportunities offer you refreshment. House lighting displays invite you to walk our streets after dark. Churches around the Town Square will house our Christmas Marketplace, bursting with unique items not found elsewhere. And much more! Don't miss this significant event.
